This Privacy Policy describes how Home Food Central HFC, LLC. (“HFC,” “we,” “us,” or “our”)  collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your personal information when you access or use our website, mobile application, and related services (together, the “HFC Platform”) as a consumer (“Consumer”) or home chef (“Home Chef). The terms “you” and “your” shall mean and refer to anyone who accesses and/or uses the HFC Platform, including Consumers and Home Chefs. 


  1. Scope of this Policy

This Policy applies to personal information we collect when you:

  • Access or use the HFC Platform in any way.
  • Create a customer or Home Chef account on the HFC Platform.
  • Browse, order, sell, or deliver food through the HFC Platform.
  • Communicate with us, Home Chefs, or customers through the HFC Platform.
  • Receive marketing communications or participate in surveys, promotions, or referrals.

 

This Privacy Policy does not apply to third‑party websites, apps, or services that are not controlled by HFC, even if they are linked from the HFC Platform. We encourage you to review the privacy policies of any third‑party service you use.

2.1 Information You Provide to Us

We may collect the following information directly from you:

  • Account details: name, email address, password, phone number.
  • Profile details: delivery address, preferred pickup location, dietary preferences, and other optional profile fields.
  • Order and transaction information: items ordered, order history, payments, refunds, discounts, and delivery instructions.
  • Home Chef information: business name & logo, permit/license numbers, health department jurisdiction, food operation category, menu items, and profile photos.
  • Communications: messages, reviews, ratings, support inquiries, and feedback submitted through the platform or by email/phone.

 

2.2 Information We Collect Automatically

When you use the HFC Platform, we and our service providers may automatically collect:

  • Device and usage information: IP address, browser type, device type, operating system, app version, pages viewed, links clicked, and the date/time of visits.
  • Log data and analytics: session activity, performance data, and diagnostic information used to improve the platform.
  • Location information: approximate location based on IP or, if you enable it, precise location from your device to support local listings, delivery zones, and safety checks.

 

We may use cookies, pixels, SDKs, and similar technologies to collect some of this information.

 

2.3 Information from Third Parties

We may receive information about you from:

  • Payment processors (e.g., limited payment and verification data). Payment information is handled by PCI-compliant third-party processors. HFC does not store your full credit card number or bank login credentials on our servers.
  • Delivery partners or integrations related to order status and delivery.
  • Marketing and analytics partners that help us understand platform use and reach new customers.
  • Public sources, such as public business directories or social media profiles, where permitted by law.

We use personal information to:

  • Provide and operate the HFC Platform, including processing orders, enabling communication between customers and Chefs via the HFC Platform, and arranging deliveries or pickups.
  • Verify Home Chefs’ eligibility to list food items (including permits and permit status).
  • Maintain the safety and integrity of the HFC Platform, including detecting and preventing fraud, abuse, or violations of our policies.
  • Personalize your experience, such as showing local Home Chefs’ relevant menu items, and tailored offers.
  • Communicate with you about your account, orders, updates to the HFC Platform, and important policy changes.
  • Provide customer support, resolve disputes or complaints and report required information to the state or county officials to resolve any disputes or complaints that cannot be handled by us. 
  • Conduct analytics and improve the HFC Platform, including new features, user experience, and platform performance.
  • Send marketing communications (where permitted), including promotions, newsletters, and recommendations; you may opt out at any time.

 

We may aggregate and de-identify information so that it can no longer reasonably identify you and use such information for any lawful purpose.

We may share personal information in the following ways:

  • With Home Chefs:
    • Consumers’ relevant order details (name, address for delivery, ordered items, delivery or pickup information, and any notes needed to fulfill the order).
  • With Consumers:
    • Home Chef profile information (name, address for pickup, business name, permits disclosed by the Home Chef, menu details, ratings, and reviews) needed for informed purchasing decisions.
  • With service providers:
    • Third‑party vendors that perform services on our behalf, such as hosting, cloud storage, payment processing, analytics, email and SMS delivery, customer support tools, and delivery services.
  • For legal and safety reasons:
    • When we believe disclosure is required or appropriate under applicable law, regulation, legal process, or governmental request, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of HFC, our users, or the public.
  • In business transfers:
    • In connection with a merger, acquisition, financing, or sale of all or part of our business, subject to appropriate confidentiality protections.

 

We do not sell your personal information in exchange for money. Some of our use of cookies and analytics partners may be treated as a “sale” or “sharing” under certain state privacy laws; see “Your Privacy Rights (California and Iowa)” below for more information.

We keep information for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this Privacy Policy, while we have a business need to do so, or as required by law (e.g. for tax, legal, accounting or other purposes), whichever is the longer period of time.

 

When we no longer need personal information, we will delete it, or, if that is not possible (for example, because it is stored in backup archives), we will securely store it and isolate it from further processing until deletion is possible.

  • Right to know/access: Request that we confirm whether we process your personal information and provide access to certain information about how we use and disclose it.
  • Right to portability: In some cases, request a copy of certain personal information in a portable and, where technically feasible, readily usable format.
  • Right to deletion: Request that we delete certain personal information we have collected, subject to applicable exceptions (for example, when we must retain data to comply with legal obligations or for security purposes).
  • Right to correction: Request that we correct inaccurate personal information we maintain about you.
  • Right to opt out of certain data uses:
    • California residents may have the right to opt out of “sales” or “sharing” of personal information for cross‑context behavioral advertising as those terms are defined by California law.
    • Where our use of cookies or advertising partners is considered a “sale” or “sharing,” you may opt out by using our “Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information” controls (if available) or by adjusting cookie preferences.
  • Right to limit use of sensitive information (California): If we collect information classified as “sensitive personal information” under California law, you may have the right to limit our use of that information to certain permitted purposes. At this time, HFC does not use any sensitive personal information in a manner that would trigger a separate right to limit under California law.
  • Right to non‑discrimination: We will not discriminate against you for exercising your privacy rights (for example, by denying goods or services, charging different prices, or providing a different level or quality of service), though we may provide a different price or rate or a different level or quality of goods or services if that difference is reasonably related to the value provided by your data or is otherwise permitted by law.

You can exercise certain rights directly through your account settings (where available), or you may contact us using the information in the “Contact Us” section below and include:

  • Your name and the email address associated with your account.
  • The state where you reside (e.g., California or Iowa).
  • The type of request you are making (access, deletion, correction, etc.).

We may take reasonable steps to verify your identity before responding, which may include asking you to log in to your account or provide certain information so we can match you with our records.

 

If permitted by applicable law, you may also designate an authorized agent to make a request on your behalf. If you do so, we may require proof of your authorization and additional verification.

 

Appeals (Iowa)

If you are an Iowa resident and we deny your request in whole or in part, you may have the right to appeal our decision within the time period specified in our response. Instructions for submitting an appeal will be included in the response to your request, if applicable.

 

  1. Children’s Privacy

The HFC Platform is not directed to children and is intended for a general audience. HFC does not knowingly collect personal information (as defined by the U.S. Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act, or “COPPA”) from children. If you are a parent or guardian and have reason to believe that your child has provided information to HFC through the Service please contact us at contact@homefoodcentral.com and we will endeavor to delete that information from our databases in accordance with COPPA.

 

  1. International Transfers

The HFC Platform is intended primarily for users located in the United States. If you access the HFC Platform from outside the United States, your information may be processed and stored in the United States or other jurisdictions that may have different data protection laws than your home country. By accessing or using the HFC Platform, you acknowledge any such transfer, storage, or processing.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices, technology, legal requirements, or other factors. When we make material changes, we will update the “Last updated” date and provide additional notice by email. Your continued use of the HFC Platform after any changes indicates your acceptance of the updated Policy.
